We use donated funds to help pay medical expenses to support any at the animal at the Lakewood Animal Shelter that is sick or injured and in need of medical attention. Your donation also helps with providing supplies, vaccinations, medications to support the health and wellbeing of the animals during their stay at the shelter.

Supplying the Shelter

Below is a list of items that the Animal Control Officers are always in need of to help care for the homeless animals at the shelter. New or unused items are preferred.

SHELTER AMAZON WISHLIST
  • Dry and Canned Kitten Food (Fancy Feast or Wellness brands)
  • New pooper scooper
  • Unopened pet food (canned and/or dry)
  • Clay cat litter (not the scoopable— it clogs the plumbing at the shelter)
  • Gift certificate for local pet stores
  • Unused assorted toys (dog and cat)
  • Paper towels
  • Floor cleaner (disinfectant)
  • Dishwasher detergent
  • Powdered laundry detergent
  • Scouring powder (such as Comet, Ajax—generic is fine)
  • Liquid cleaner (such as Pine-sol, Mr. Clean—generic is fine)
  • 30 gallon garbage bags

Personal efforts by people like you help provide our community’s stray cats and dogs a better quality of life during their time at the shelter. The shelter offers volunteer opportunities for dependable persons, 16 years and older. Volunteers are assigned to help the Animal Control Officers on Saturdays between 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
